Pierce Transit Proposition 1 – TPCAR suggests a vote of YES
TPCAR supports a YES vote on Pierce Transit Proposition 1 because a growing Pierce County will require continued investment in the infrastructure that connects people to jobs, housing, services, and economic opportunity.
Proposition 1 would provide additional funding to expand transit service, including greater frequency, longer operating hours, additional routes, and improved regional connections. These investments would give residents more options for reaching jobs, schools, healthcare, shopping, and other destinations while strengthening connections between communities throughout Pierce County.
For REALTORS®, transportation and housing are closely connected. As communities add housing and employment, the transportation network must be able to support that growth. Reliable transit can expand access to employment, improve mobility for households that cannot or choose not to rely exclusively on a car, and complement broader planning efforts intended to accommodate new housing and economic activity.
TPCAR believes Pierce County should invest in infrastructure that helps create the conditions for sustainable growth. Improving mobility and connectivity supports economic competitiveness, provides greater access to opportunity, and contributes to the healthy local economy that is essential to a strong housing market.
For these reasons, TPCAR supports a YES vote on Pierce Transit Proposition 1.
